After I graduated with my bachelor’s degree in psychology, I spent six month living in India, After living in India, I returned to the states where I started my career in the tech industry. After several years of working in the tech industry, I found myself feeling unsatisfied with the work and wanted to make a change. I started working with a therapist and coach to help me understand the way I view the world and interact with those around me. Through our work together we uncovered unresolved trauma and feelings both in the conscious and unconscious areas where I held on to areas in my life where I experienced shame, guilt and sadness but over time the emotions changed to excitement and joy where I feel more filled as a person.
As a therapist I draw from several different modalities I work primarily through a humanistic lens with a focus on self-awareness and self-compassion through this focus I explore shame and guilt. Another approach I lean on psychodynamic therapy which is a therapy technique used to help the client to understand the influence of past and present behaviors.
Over the years I have worked with a variety of clients who are looking for ways to improve their life. I am most drawn to those who identify on the margins, those who are the outcast and those who do not feel they fit into the box society tells them they should fit into. I work well with those who experience chronic pain as I pull from my own lived experience with living with chronic pain.
I self-identify as a theatre nerd and pop culture junkie – In my spare time you can find me spending my time in a local coffee shop drinking coffee or reading the latest people magazine. I live alone with my cat Charcoal and love traveling internationally.
