About Nancy
I'm Nancy Kessler, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and clinical supervisor with a Master's Degree in Clinical Counseling from Seattle University. Over more than two decades in counseling roles, I've learned that the work of becoming a therapist is as much about developing your own inner clarity as it is about mastering techniques. Supervision, at its best, is where both happen together.
I am no longer accepting new clients and am focusing my role at Talk Heal Thrive on supervising associates and clinicians who are building their careers in mental health. If you're working toward licensure, refining your clinical identity, or wanting a supervisor who takes the relational and developmental side of this work seriously, I'd love to talk.
My approach to supervision mirrors my approach to therapy: collaborative, person-centered, and grounded in deep listening. I believe supervisees grow most when they feel genuinely heard — when there's space to bring the cases that confuse you, the moments you second-guessed yourself, and the questions you're not sure how to ask yet. Together we'll explore what kind of clinician you want to become, what's getting in the way, and what skills and frameworks will help you get there.
I bring extensive clinical experience across ADHD, OCD (including ERP), trauma and PTSD (including EMDR), grief and loss, life transitions, anxiety, divorce, eco-anxiety, and shame and self-criticism. My evidence-based toolkit includes Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness-Based Therapy, EMDR, and ERP. I've worked with adolescents (13+) and adults across a wide range of backgrounds, cultures, genders, sexual orientations, and neurotypes, and I welcome supervisees who are building practices with similarly diverse client populations.
What you can expect from supervision with me: a safe space to think out loud, honest feedback delivered with care, support for the emotional weight this work carries, and a steady focus on helping you build clinical skills that align with your values. Whether you're navigating your first trauma cases, learning EMDR, working with grief, or simply trying to find your footing as a new clinician, I'm here to walk alongside you.
Outside of work, I'm a naturally inquisitive and creative person who finds joy in biking, gardening, and spending time near large bodies of water. My appreciation for people, plants, animals, and the wonders of life informs the empathy I bring to every supervisory relationship.
